About MCCTI

The Ministry of Commerce, Cooperatives, Trade & Investment (MCCTI) is one of the strong pillars of Lagos State economic development drive. Its mandate is to initiate, formulate and evaluate policies and implement programmes and projects relating to Commerce, Cooperatives, Trade & Investment.

Grouped under the fourth Pillar of the T.H.E.M.E.S+ Development Agenda - Making Lagos a 21st Century Economy, the Ministry has Five (5) professional Departments: Commerce, Cooperatives Services, Trade/Industry, Investment Promotion and Inspectorate & Monitoring.

The Ministry outlined three focus areas: Driving Economic Prosperity and Growth, Focusing on Strengthening the Organised Private Sector through Industrial, MSME and Nano Sectors. It adopted the tagline: Take Part, Take Pride and Deliver Excellence.

MCCTI has participated in various business summits and continues to engage embassies and diplomatic missions, wooing local and foreign investors into Lagos. It empowers entrepreneurs to take advantage of various bilateral and multilateral agreements to grow non-oil exports, organizing trade fairs and exhibitions annually.

The Ministry facilitates the development of cottage and small-scale industrial estates, parks and enterprise zones. It supervises and monitors cooperatives services while overseeing:

  • Lagos State Consumer Protection Agency (LASCOPA)
  • Lagos State Cooperative College (LASCOCO)
  • Lagos State Investment Promotion Agency (IPA)

  • 1Initiation, formulation and evaluation of policies relating to Commerce and Industry

  • 5Liaison with relevant Industrial and Trade Groups and Associations
  • 6Annual organisation of Eko Expo Trade Fair
  • 7Formulation and facilitation of State Government commercial activities
  • 8Inspection and monitoring of factories and industrial concerns in the State
  • 9Research and development with respect to the production of industrial project profile and Business Directories in the State
  • 10Research and Planning of State Industrial Master Plan
  • 11Supervision of Cooperative Societies
  • 12Supervision of Lekki Worldwide Investment Limited
  • 13Supervision and monitoring of the development of Lekki Free Trade Zone (LFTZ) and associated projects including the Airports, Seaports, Industrial Parks, and Enterprise Zones
  • 14Supervision of Lagos State Consumer Protection Committee
  • 15Supervision of Lagos State Cooperative College
  • 16Any other duty as may be assigned by the Governor.
